Headteacher's Weekly Message: 23rd February 2018

This Girl Can Campaign 2018

This week the ambitious PE department launched this year’s ‘This Girl Can’ campaign. The PE staff have planned a programme of great activities for girls in all year groups to get involved in physical activity and sport. On Thursday 80 motivated students turned up to the Sports Hall to take part in a high intensity work-out called ‘Insanity’. The girls told me it was ‘great’ ‘hard-work’ and like a full-on ‘boot camp’ - sounds brilliant to me!

SB Staff Can

Following the success of the programme for the the students, the PE staff have planned opportunities for staff to get invovled in sporting activities too. A healthy approach to life is good for everyone at Sarah Bonnell. No Excuses!

Maths makes the problems disappear

On the 2nd of February we held the UK Maths Trust Intermediate challenge for our year 9 - 11s. The students achieved 6 silver and 30 bronze awards. Great going to Ms Farhana and the maths students.

Pinsent Mason helps develop girls leadership skills

On Friday our Business Partners Pinsent Mason visited school to work with students to develop their leadership and communucation  skills . We really value the partnership we have with Pinsent Mason and I wouild like to thank the volunteers for working with our girls today and Ms Mahmood for organising the event.

Attendance

Finally I would like to remind you of the importance of supporting your daughter to be here and on time everyday and to arrange routine appointments for the dentist and GP outside of school time. Staff carefully  plan a sequence of lessons to help your daughter make progress with her learning – every lesson missed is learning time missed. Please also remember that the school cannot authorise any trips or holidays abroad during term-time.
