Headteacher's Weekly Message: 14th July 2019

Be Proud – Be Proud Week

This week there has been a great focus on Be Proud. A variety of activities in the Piazza to get students and staff thinking about what makes them proud. On Wednesday Sarah Bonnell School held a Cultural Dress day to raise money for our school charity United World Schools. Be Proud was a great success with thanks to the hard work of Mr Begley and all the Form Tutors who supported their Form Groups with their social-entrepreneurial skills. Sarah Bonnell raised over £1500 for our school in Cambodia this week. Be Proud

Sarah Bonnell Mentoring Scheme with Pinsent Masons 2018-2019

This year Pinsent Masons delivered a highly successful programme with all girls giving high praise to their mentors, they all felt that they had grown in confidence and had a far clearer idea when it came to planning their future. On Wednesday 10th July the students attended a celebration event at Pinsent Masons office. It was a great opportunity for the girls to meet with their mentors, discuss their progress and have a tour of the Pinsent Masons office. Aim High

Science Scholarship Session - Floating Garden Challenge

On Monday 8 July students explored the impacts of climate change in Bangladesh, as the land where farmers used to grow their crops is now flooded on a regular basis. The challenge was for students to design and build a model structure for a floating garden to tackle the problem of flooding. The students were resourceful as they used plastic bottles to help structure their design, and thought carefully about how to ensure the garden would float. Work Hard

No Excuses – Be here to learn every day.

At Sarah Bonnell we take great pride in the excellent attendance record of our school which is well above national averages for girls. I would like to thank parents and carers for the support they give their daughter with minimising absence and ask you to ensure that your daughter continues to be in school every day until the last day of this important term on Friday 19 July 2019 and is ready to return to school on Tuesday 3 September 2019. No Excuses
