Curriculum Aims

The Mathematics Curriculum Area uses Edexcel Specification and units taught build on existing Key Stage 3 learning, whilst also introducing new mathematical knowledge, understanding and skills. All students follow the National Curriculum to their appropriate level, covering number, algebra, ratio, proportion and rates of change, geometry and measures, probability and statistics. Recognising the importance of Mathematics in their own lives and in society, students learn to make informed decisions about the use of technology, the management of money, further learning opportunities and career choices.

Years 10 and 11

In light of new curriculum changes to GCSE, Key Stage 4 teaching begins in Year 9 where student gain a solid understanding of Foundation GCSE. In Year 10 and Year 11 students are taught either the Higher or Foundation GCSE specification. High achieving students in Year 10 also have the opportunity to work on the AQA Certificate in Further Maths.

  • Username: student school login followed by @sarahbonnell
  • Password: mathswatch

Mathswatch is an online programme which gives students access to videos and practise questions with answers for the full mathematics curriculum. Teachers are also able to set homework through Mathswatch.

Mathswatch is an excellent resource for:

  • Researching a topic before a lesson
  • Reinforcing knowledge from class
  • Revising for exams
  • Catching up with work after absences

Select student log-in and your daughter will be able to enter a password (we suggest she uses the same as her school password in case she forgets it).

Collins Connect gives your daughter online access to the textbook which she uses in class. Your daughter will be able to access all examples and questions in the book, as well as be set exercises for homework by her teacher.

Exam Boards & Links for syllabus

At Sarah Bonnell we use the Edexcel exam board for Maths

Schemes of Learning for Year 9 and 10 can be found on the link below by following GCSE Maths (9-1) for Edexcel.

Year 11 classes work from personalised Schemes of Learning appropriate for that class.
